February/March Message:
Winter is just about over and not soon enough for me and most of you I'm sure. I'm looking forward to the warmth and sunshine and all the events we have coming up! Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I'll see you all at the different events! The Lighthouse will be opening soon and our next meeting is March 22, so we hope to see you there! We had a great time at the Hoff's house for our Social Gathering for Leap Day. I believe we had 24 people attend, we ate great food and played Trivial Pursuit and had a drink or two, or three! Anyway, we had a great time! Hope to see everyone at the next Social Gathering on April 5th. It will be at The Jetty in Kent Island, Maryland. Jim Morris is playing, so come on out and have a good time! That's all for now, Debbie, prez

Key points planned for this year's program include providing more details on:

We also need to know specific topics that you are interested in sharing with other club leaders or seeking advice from others. Drop Andy or me a note if you have something to add to the program.
I look forward to the fellowship and knowledge sharing that occurs at the events each year. I always come away with some new idea to make our club work a little better or make our jobs a little easier. I'm confident you will too.

Mid Winter Meltdown Review

By
Denise Irwin
The Parrot Heads of the Old Dominion and the Pirates of the Potomac once again threw one of the best parties in the Mid-Atlantic region on the last weekend in January.
The Best Western Inn in Manassas, Virginia was the host hotel for the 6th annual Mid-Winter Meltdown.
Representing our club were: Connie & Jerry Groll, Bob & Janet Werner, Deb Miller, Denise Irwin and Sylvia Diehl.
We arrived on Friday afternoon to hear Matt Hall take the stage (Matt was one of the original St. Somewhere band). He was great, playing some of the old St Somewhere tunes and many more!
Then Sunny Jim White took over for the next couple hours doing all of his songs. Connie was a big hit with her “monkey”!
A Mexican dinner of tortillas and all the fixins followed. (all food was included in the weekend price and it was all good!)
Then for the rest of the night, the Calypso Nuts rocked the house! They were awesome and had everyone up dancing and singing all night! They even brought in a Polynesian dance troupe to perform for us!
That was just Friday! Saturday morning rolled around too quickly and at 1:00, Jim Hoehn did his thing of great storytelling and good songs to go with the stories!
Lunch was a meal of Cheeseburgers and Hot Dogs with all the trimmings to go with them.
Then at 3:00, Tropical Soul from Pa took the stage. Dennis & Randy are always great too!
Dinner was catered by Carrabas, and was an Italian meal. Excellent!
During dinner, John Frinzi performed. Several of the other musicians joined him on stage which is always fun to see and hear!
Then at 7:30, Will Kimbrough performed. He played with Buffett several years ago and wrote “Piece of Work” which is on one of the recent Buffett CDs. He reminded me a lot of Robert Earl Keene, or maybe Todd Snider….Very good!
Then from 10 - ? Tall Paul and Crawdaddy with the Divers took over and they were excellent. Quincey from the original St. Somewhere was in his band and at one point all of the original St. Somewhere band was on the stage for the first time in many years!
Sunday morning a nice breakfast was catered by Bob Evans and several of the musicians took the stage from 10 – 2 for the Annual Drunkwriters Brunch. We left around noon to head home, but the party was still going on!
This is one of the best weekends in our area. I can’t wait for next year to roll around to do it all again!
